The Vortex-Induced-Vibration (VIV) of a riser in a simplified shear flow is investigated in a series of experiments carried out in a large flume. In the experimental program the VIV from two different flow speed regions were forced to compete to determine the relative importance of underlying fluid and structure parameters.
