The ability to quantify the mechanical/material properties of the arterial system has been a highly sought after asset in the study of arterial atherosclerosis; however, conventional methods that take into account the dynamic viscoelastic nature of the artery are either destructive or lack high local spatial resolution[ 1,2]. A novel computed tomographic (CT) technique has been utilized to obtain the instantaneous measurement of the dynamic elastic modulus of intact excised porcine aortic vessels undergoing physiological pressure waveforms.
