Abstract

Continuous fiber reinforced ceramic composites (CFCC) consist of brittle ceramic matrix (ϵum ≈ 0.15%) reinforced by relatively ductile ceramic fibers (ϵuf ≈ 1.1%), with intentionally weak interfaces. This combination of material properties enhances the ductility of the CFCC in the fiber direction.
